Pennsylvania’s Amish and Mennonite farmers dealt with Covid by not locking down their churches. Not getting Covid shots. Not going to hospitals. Now it’s clear that their communities in and around Lancaster County, PA have “herd immunity” from Covid-19. Life is normal.
October 26, 2021 By Jerry Carlson There’s no statistical data on severity of Covid cases among the county’s Amish and Mennonites. They avoided PCR testing. Also, these farm families felt that staying home if sick was better than the CDC’s mandated treatments at hospitals, where they’d be isolated.
By midsummer 2021, their communities were a haven of normalcy, attracting so many visitors from “out among the English” that their businesses were highly profitable.
Watching the YouTube video at this link will perk your spirits. It bespeaks of an oasis of sanity in a world gone medically mad. The video was posted Oct. 11, 2021, and as of this morning had 763,537 views. It was produced by Sharyl Attkisson, whose video news feature service Full Measure covers a wide array of controversies. I’m listing her channel as a reliable source of information on Covid and many other issues. Investigative journalists like Attkisson have a distinctive viewpoint which contrasts sharply with CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the legacy media herd. My own family lived in eastern Pennsylvania for a decade, often visiting Lancaster County. At Farm Journal, Pro Farmer and now at Renewable Farming, I’ve worked with many Amish and Mennonite farmers across the nation. Several of these farm families are close friends. I’ve long admired their faith, independence and family devotion.
